Crew Call’ for play about the two Catherines:  actors, producers, designers and stage hands needed for an exciting new play with music to be staged in early 2023

The SIRA Recreation Club has been working towards developing a play about the two Catherines (Benns and Bouffier) who are important to the island’s history. We conducted workshops in late 2021 and engaged a young professional playwright, Jasper Marlow, to develop a light-hearted, engaging script that would appeal to island and other audiences. This process is now almost complete and we are looking forward to staging the play in early 2023.

Markus Plattner, whom many of you know from his wonderful concert earlier this year, has agreed to be the Musical Director. He and others will be writing original songs and music for the play. We have already received some wonderful lyrics from Geoff Bullock.

Kay Reaney, a relatively new island resident and director of many events, has agreed to be the Director. We are extremely lucky to have these two professionals to steer the production of the play.

We are now looking for:

  • A producer
  • Actors to fill seven roles
Narrator
Catherine Bouffier (40-50s)
Jo Benns (40-60s)
Herbert Fitzpatrick (30s)
Florence Bouffier/Fitzpatrick (30s)
Tilly Devine (40-50s)
Real Estate Angel
+ chorus of ‘wife-swappers’
  • Set designer
  • Costume designer
  • Stage manager
  • Stage hands (young people)
