Scotland Island Energy Reliability Project:  Cable connection work in Richard Road – work from Dec 6, Tuesday, corner Richard and Harold Avenue

SIRA has received the following communication from Ausgrid announcing work to take place on the island next week.

As you are aware, Ausgrid has almost finished work to improve the reliability of the local power supply to Scotland Island and West Pittwater, following extended power outages to the area in previous years.

We have installed new cables between:

  • Lovett Bay and Catherine Park
  • Scotland Island and Church Point.

The connection of the cable between Catherine Park and Lovett Bay is now complete and provides an alternate supply route for Lovett Bay and Scotland Island.

Work on Richard Road, Scotland Island

From Tuesday 6 December 2022, work will continue on the corner of Richard Road and Harold Avenue to complete the connection of the Scotland Island and Church Point cable. This work will take about two weeks to complete, weather and ground conditions permitting.

During this time, we will attempt to maintain pedestrian access in most instances to Richard Road and to the wharf and reserve from the road. However, there will be times when access will be restricted during work hours and we ask for your patience during these periods.

Access to the wharf from the water will be maintained at all times. Ferry, water taxi and boat activities will not be affected.

The final restoration of the areas will be carried out in consultation with Northern Beaches Council.

Day work

From Tuesday 6 December 2022; 7am to 6pm Mondays to Fridays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.

What to expect during our work

Work will be noisy at times, and there will be an increase in vehicle movements. We will minimise the impacts to you by:

  • Where possible, we will be installing noise blankets around excavations and equipment
  • directing lighting away from residential properties, and
  • carrying out regular inspections to ensure minimal impact to surrounding residents.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this work may cause.

Keeping you informed

Ausgrid will issue email notification updates detailing work locations and dates. Residents can register for these updates to be emailed to them at majorprojects@ausgrid.com.au.

We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause you and thank you for your continued patience. We would also like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy holiday season.

Yours sincerely,

Anthony Oliver
