B Britt Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) and Mediator
Biography
I am a barrister and accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP). In addition, I am also qualified as a psychotherapist, specialising in relationship counselling. I offer professional, discreet Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) for family law matters, including parenting plans. FDR provides couples seeking a divorce or de facto separation an opportunity to try to agree to arrangements for your family and property without the expense and distress of a court process.
Separating families who have a dispute about children are required by law to make a genuine effort to try to resolve it through FDR before filing an application for parenting orders in court. This also applies to those seeking a change to an existing parenting order. There are a few exceptions to this, including family violence, child abuse and urgency. Unless an exception is applicable, those seeking to have a parenting matter determined by the Family Court will need to file a s60I certificate, issued by an FDRP. I can also assist you in coming to an agreement with regard to property arrangements, without going to court. FDR with an accredited FDRP is confidential and not admissible under the Family Law Act 1975. This allows parties to work together to try and attain the best agreement for both of them.
I can conduct Family Dispute Resolution and other mediations in a location of your choice or in onshore rooms.
