Report on SIRA AGM
The Scotland Island Residents’ Association held its AGM on 8 October in the Community Hall, attended by eight Committee members (with apologies from three) and 13 SIRA members.
The meeting heard reports from the President, Robyn Iredale and from most of the subcommittee team leaders. Robyn thanked the committee and members who had contributed to island life over the past year, and announced that she would not be standing for the 2024-25 committee.
SIRA and the community owe a great debt to Robyn, who, as President and head of the Recreation Club, was responsible for overseeing many events that entertained and engaged islanders, including instigating a play (with another one in the offing for 2025), concerts, the Moon Dances, and many other events. She was a dedicated, hard-working and active president, liaising closely with the Northern Beaches Council and forging links with the Pittwater Community Alliance.
Robyn started the Recreation Club in 2019 after applying for and being awarded a Community and Cultural Grant for the purpose of improving social cohesion. The grant money was used to buy a second-hand coffee machine and a coffee grinder. This enabled the Recreation Club to start the Two Catherines Café, another initiative from Robyn, in July 2020. It is now in its fourth year of operation. The profits from the café have been used to train baristas, buy equipment, put on a Makers’ Festival, and fund many other community events.
SIRA extends its warm thanks to Robyn and wishes her the very best for the future.

Damage at Recreation Centre
On the weekend of 12/13 October vandals caused damage at the Recreation Centre, and unfortunately damaged the lowest plank of the treasured mural by Nettie Lodge. The vandals also attempted to break into the toy shed used by the playgroup and leaving the panels bent.
The police and Council have been informed. If anyone knows anything about this incident, please contact the Halls Manager at halls@sira.org.au.
