Water security in the face of scarcity: an important public forum on water and wastewater

Sunday August 18, 10-11:30 am

Scotland Island Community Hall

Are you concerned about water quality, about the number of trees dying on the island, or about the pressures on our Emergency Water system? Do you want to pay $200,000 per dwelling for mains water and sewerage? This is Sydney Water’s advice if we want these basic services.

SIRA’s Water and Wastewater subcommittee is convening a public forum to discuss this vital issue.

Attendees will hear a brief 10-minute overview of the efforts that have been made to achieve mains water and sewerage for Scotland Island and an overview of the situation now – which is that Sydney Water is resisting any moves to spend any money on the Island. The rest of the forum will be discussion on how to achieve a positive result on the goal of mains water and sewerage.

Please bring your ideas, experiences, expertise and thoughts about how we can progress towards this goal as a community.

· When: 18 August, 10 am to 11:30 am. Tea and coffee will be available.

· Where: Scotland Island Community Hall
