.#A message from the Emergency Water team about water over the summer period

Summer, especially during the holidays, is a busy time for emergency water. Please remember to:

• walk the line at the beginning of your booking,
• check the flow of water into your tank during the booking,
• finish the booking if your tank overflows

Immediately after the booking is finished, please:

• close your standpipe
• remove your flexible hose from the standpipe
• open the valve after your standpipe to enable the water to flow through the line

The emergency water line was installed on the island for emergencies, prolonged drought and fighting fires. It was not designed to be the primary source of water for residents.

You are encouraged to clean your gutters, collect rainwater from your roof, install filters into your house and regularly clean and replace them. It’s important to always keep a supply of water on hand in case the fire brigade needs to access your tank to fight a fire.
