SIRA conducted a survey of Scotland Island Residents to determine the community’s attitudes in relation to the impending Council Decision to give final approval for the built of the new Car Park at Church Point.

On 6 March, SIRA also held a community forum, please click to read the report.
Q1 Which of the following best describes your position on the new carpark?
|I don’t want this car park to bebuilt.||15.35%||39|
|I would like it to go ahead, but I am not prepared to pay more than $300pa, even if that means stopping the project||17.32%||44|
|I would like it to go ahead, and I am prepared to pay up to $500pa for the project to proceed||40.94%||
|I would like it to go ahead, and in principle I am prepared to pay more than $500pa to reduce the number of the Privately Leased Spaces||17.32%||44|
As outlined above there are three Interim Strategies for Demand Management (Offshore Priority Parking) that have been adopted by the SIRA and WPCA Committees, these are:
(A) Church Point Parking Permits are only to be sold to Offshore Residents
(B) 300 car spaces for Church Point Permit only parking every day between 6pm and 6am (e.g. noPay and Display parking in the main carpark allowed between those hours)
(C) If 4P restrictions are introduced in the Church Point local streets, Church Point Parking Permit holders are exempt Until we can undertake the proposed second survey to better determine the Community’s views on this important issue we need to check the level of support for adopting these Interim Strategies.
Please choose one of the following:
|I support the above interim strategies being adopted until the survey on Demand Management is undertaken||52.36%||133|
|I do not support the above interim strategies being adopted until the survey on Demand Management is undertaken||4.72%||12|
|I support the above interim strategies and do not think a second survey necessary||36.61%||93|
