Sesame Street Comes to Scotland Island

In 1996 the ABC will include Australian inserts in Sesame Street. For 29 years we have been watching all American content but now the decision has been made to have those interesting little three minute clips more local in content.

ABC assistant director Jonathon Swain, a local to the area, thought it would be nice to make a clip concerning the community vehicle. Jonathon researched the idea through this web site. Director (David Evans) who is hiding in the photo did much of the work with the kids . Susan Lumsden Director of photography still has lumps on her head from filming inside the car while negotiating some particularly bumpy parts and sound recordist, Rob Stalder would like to be a convert to Island living.

Jesse Vick is the the narrator of the story and explains what the community vehicle is all about while Rebeccah, Silas and Jesse answer a call to help a very pregnant Caroline Ferguson and 3 year old Andrew home with their shopping. Much merriment is made of the rough ride over the Island roads.

The team from the ABC did a fantastic job working with the kids. (Remember the addage, never work with kids or animals).

Unfortunately we will have to wait until 1999 to see the end result. SInews will keep you posted.
