The Legendary Lenny Duck

'Thanks, Lenny.'

How many times have we said that? And in how many different ways have we meant it?

It's time to tell him; through these photographs, drawings, words and memories, reflecting the thoughts of all of us in the Island and foreshore community.

With thanks from Lenny's legions.

In part, these words from Mike Channell, introduces and sets the tone of our acknowledgment and completes for those who contributed to now, a one-off bound book for Lenny, it signals an ‘end of an era’.

Much of my work in the documentary world has been about a community ‘completion’.  It is in my experience, this is a most important process for the individuals and the community as a whole.  In our case this is abundantly transparent in the drawings and words of the children.  They have expressed in the most delightful way their, 'Thanks, Lenny.'

None of us should lose sight of the fact that this is a one-off bound book for Lenny.  To do other wise would not be in keeping with the generosity of expression intended.

There are many who gave of their time to make it possible for so many to contribute.  To you all I pass on my personal thanks. None the least is my wife Marion, who will once I complete the compilation of your contributions, shall become custodian of this one-off bound book for Lenny, till the day it is given to him.
