SAVE MONA VALE HOSPITAL

 

Did you know that on the 2nd December a health summit will be held to make a decision on the future closure of Mona Vale Hospital?

 

An action group of concerned Pittwater residents has been formed to fight for the retention of the hospital.

 

Some of the critical issues are:

 

à      Mona Vale Hospital is an integral part of the provision of health services for local residents

à      Any proposed new hospitals at Brookvale or Bantry Bay would dramatically increase travel times

à      Having to travel further would put lives at risk in emergencies and place families under stress when visiting relatives in hospital

à      If Mona Vale and Manly Hospitals are closed what guarantee is there that a new hospital would be built.

à      Royal North Shore Hospital is already overcrowded

à      State Governments have in the past failed to provide adequate community infrastructure such as:

-         Adequate levels of policing

-         Upgrade of Mona Vale Road

-         Enough staff to fully man ambulance stations

à      Mona Vale Hospital is in reasonably good condition and was originally designed to be expanded and still has plenty of room to grow when required.  Further, it has helicopter facilities for modern, fast, emergency transport.

à      The Northern Sydney Area Health Service has not provided enough information for the community to make an informed decision.  Where are:

-         Costs associated with various options they have proposed

-         An outline of the social and economic impacts

 

All residents will receive an information package from Northern Sydney Area Health Service (NSAHS) towards the end of November – please study it carefully to see how it effects our hospital and return your feedback form and a letter voicing your concerns.
